Dr. Abelardo Aguilar. In 1949, via soil samples he obtained from his backyard, Dr. Aguilar stumbled upon ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜บ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ถ๐˜ด (now ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ข ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ข), the bacteria that would lead to the discovery of erythromycin. Erythromycin is an antibiotic used in treating infections of the respiratory tract, Legionnaireโ€™s disease, and diphtheria, as well as urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis.
